How dungeons work

23 dungeons, 6 raids and 3 world bosses: levels, waves before bosses, a single difficulty, full experience for everyone and what happens if you outlevel one.

A Dungeon is a separate location for a group: a chain of bosses, with a wave of regular enemies before each one. Zarhold has 32 such locations in total: 23 dungeons, 6 raids and 3 world bosses, with 166 bosses between them.

Dungeon levels

  • The first Dungeon opens at level 10 (range 10–15); the hardest are built for levels 58–60.
  • You can enter once your level is at least the bottom of the range.
  • To queue as a group, every member has to be inside the range — neither below nor above it.
  • Raids and World bosses are for level 60 only: Raids and world bosses.

All locations with their levels are in the Location list reference.

How a run goes

  1. Before every boss there’s a wave of 1–3 regular enemies at that boss’s level.
  2. Then the boss fight. A Dungeon has 2 to 16 bosses; the last one is the final boss.
  3. Lost? You can start the same fight again with no penalty, or leave. Gear durability isn’t spent in dungeons.

Every location has a single difficulty, with no separate harder modes. Each fight is the same card duel as in the open world, just on a shared board: your party against the enemies. How a boss fight works is covered in Boss fights.

Experience and money

  • Every member gets the full experience and money for a clear — nothing is split across the group.
  • If you’re above the top of the range, you get less experience, and a Dungeon that’s far too easy gives none.
  • Heirloom items add experience here too.
  • The full reward is for the first clear, then 50% and 0%: Repeat clears.

Loot

A Dungeon boss drops 2–3 items for the group; they can be worn from the boss’s level. Bosses never drop grey items, from level 30 they don’t drop green ones either, and from level 55 every boss gives at least one epic. Waves occasionally drop green and blue items. The “Loot” button on the Dungeon screen shows all of a location’s loot, boss by boss. Details: Boss loot and Loot rolls. After every fight won — wave or boss — every live party member gets materials by enemy type: cloth from humanoids, meat and bone from beasts, dust from undead and demons, essences from elementals, ore from constructs and giants (hides and herbs only with Skinning or Herbalism). They aren’t rolled for and drop on every run — Dungeon materials. Bosses in level 20+ dungeons also drop the rare material Unstable Crystal, and some bosses drop recipe scrolls.

The best clear time for every location goes on the Records board.

FAQ

Can I clear a Dungeon solo?

You can go in alone, but the game warns you honestly: the enemies are very strong and it’s almost impossible. Better to join the queue — world residents will fill the empty spots. Raids and World bosses can’t be entered solo.

What if I’ve outlevelled a Dungeon?

You can still go in, but you’ll get less experience, and none at all if it’s far too easy. The loot doesn’t change.
