Personal items: what you can and can’t do

Gear of green quality and up becomes personal when you get it: what you can do with it, why it can’t be passed on, crafted items and 2 hours to pass group loot.

Gear in Zarhold is personal: an item of green quality and above binds to a hero as soon as it reaches them. It’s worn by whoever looted, bought or received it.

What becomes personal

  • All gear — weapons, armor, rings, cloaks, accessories — of green, blue, purple and orange quality.
  • Wherever it comes from: dungeon, raid, world boss and open-world loot, quest and PvP rewards, Honor and Arena gear, purchases from the merchant and the auction, letters, the guild bank.
  • Items your heroes already had on 9 October became personal too.

The item card of such an item says “Soulbound”.

Crafted items

Gear made by a profession becomes personal when equipped. Until then its card says “Binds when equipped”: you can sell such an item on the auction, trade it, mail it or put it in the Shared Chest. The game asks you to confirm before you put it on.

Group loot: 2 hours to pass it on

An item you win in a roll in a group of live players can be traded for another 2 hours to any member of the same run who took part in the roll. The card shows “Can be traded to members of this run: 1 h 52 min left”. After that the item stays personal for good. More in Loot rolls.

What isn’t personal

  • White and grey items.
  • Materials, consumables, recipe scrolls, gadgets and bags.
  • Heirloom and turquoise account items — they have rules of their own: they move between your heroes by mail and through the Shared Chest: Heirloom items, Legendary and unique items.

FAQ

How do I pass an item to another of my heroes?

A personal one — you can’t: it stays with the hero who got it. Crafted items that haven’t been equipped yet go into the Shared Chest, where any of your heroes can take them.

Can I sell a personal item?

To the merchant — yes, and for a day afterwards you can buy it back: Merchant buyback. On the auction — no.

I got an item a friend needs more

If you were in the same group of live players and they took part in the roll, trade it to them within 2 hours.
