Personal and group loot

Personal vs group loot: where each applies, why in Mythic everyone has their own chance, and how to roll off an item in group chat.

Zarhold has two kinds of boss loot — group and personal. The loot window and the run chronicle show which applies: a “Group loot” or “Personal loot” tag, and the “?” next to it explains the difference.

Group loot

Where: Normal and Heroic dungeons, raids and world bosses, and Mythic+ keys (there bosses drop nothing — a chest waits at the end).

There is one item for the whole group. It gets rolled for: everyone picks Need, Greed or Pass, then rolls 1–100. The chance to get the item is shared among everyone who rolls: the more contenders, the lower each one’s chance. How ties and priorities work — Group loot rolls.

Personal loot

Where: Mythic raids and world bosses.

Every live hero rolls for themselves: each boss gives one epic item for your class with a 35% chance. If it drops, the item is yours right away, no roll-off; if not, nothing. So everyone has their own chance, shared with no one: what drops for a friend doesn’t lower yours. For another 2 hours you can trade the item to a member of the same run. Details — Mythic raids.

Rolling in group chat

Sometimes an item drops for someone who doesn’t need it, and two or three others want it. That’s what rolls are for, just like in WoW:

  • “/roll” (or “/ролл”) in group chat gives a random number from 1 to 100. The server rolls it, not the game, and everyone in the group sees the line “Name rolls 57 (1–100)”. “/roll 20” rolls 1 to 20, “/roll 5-50” rolls 5 to 50. The “🎲 Roll” button above the group chat field does the same.
  • “🎲 Roll off” next to a message with an item link in group chat starts a 30-second roll-off: for everyone who presses Need, the server rolls 1–100, and at the end a line announces the winner (a tie is broken by lot). The item isn’t handed over automatically: if it’s tradable, its owner trades it.
  • Rolls only work in a group of at least 2 and no more than once every 3 seconds. There are no rolls in World or other channels, to avoid spam. A roll line can’t be edited or deleted.
