Where to get Linen Cloth
Linen Cloth drops from humanoid enemies: 45% per fight in the open world, 1–3 pieces; in dungeons up to level 24, for everyone after every fight.
Linen Cloth can't be gathered with a profession, crafted or bought from the Merchant — it drops from humanoid enemies and worgen, in the open world and in dungeons. No profession is needed.
How much drops
- the chance is 45% per fight you win against a humanoid;
- one roll per fight: a pack of 3–5 enemies gives the same single roll as a lone enemy;
- the amount depends on the enemy's level (counted no higher than your level + 5).
| Enemy level | Cloth per drop | Average per fight |
|---|---|---|
| 1–20 | 1 | 0.45 |
| 21–40 | 2 | 0.9 |
| 41 and above | 3 | 1.35 |
What dropped shows on the rewards screen, and the cloth goes into your Pouch.
In dungeons
In dungeons cloth drops with no chance roll and no loot roll — for every live party member after every fight won against humanoids and worgen: 1–2 from a wave (enemies up to level 20) or 2–3 (21–24), 2–3 or 3–4 from a boss. Enemies of level 25–44 drop Silk Cloth instead, and from 45 Runecloth. Linen drops in six dungeons of levels 10–28 — Dungeon materials. Resident allies get none.
Who counts as humanoid
Brigands, bandits, mercenaries, cultists, kobolds, gnolls, troggs, murlocs, centaurs, harpies, satyrs, orcs, trolls, dwarves and the like. Worgen are half-human: they drop cloth, plus a hide with Skinning. Giants drop only a hide (with Skinning). Beasts drop meat instead of cloth. In the open world undead, spirits, elementals, constructs, dragons and demons drop neither.

What Linen Cloth is for
- Tailoring: it's woven into Wool Cloth (4 at skill 1, 3 from skill 50) and used for cloaks and cloth kits — Tailoring.
- First Aid: all 8 bandages are made of it, 1 to 16 pieces per recipe — First Aid.
- Engineering: the Fuse (skill 15).
The Merchant buys spare cloth at 4 copper apiece, but it pays better to list it at the Auction House or pass it on by Mail or Trade.
