World residents: who they are and where you meet them
Who world residents are in Zarhold: allies in dungeons and parties, opponents in the arena and on battlegrounds, training duels and what they never receive.
World residents are heroes who live in Zarhold alongside the players. Each has their own name, class, race, level, gear, talents and professions; inspecting a resident opens their profile.
Allies
- In a dungeon, raid or world boss fight, a free seat in your group is taken by a resident of the right role — tank, healer or damage dealer.
- They are matched by strength: their level is within ±5 of the run's level, and their power is that of an average player of the same class and level. Residents who are too strong or too weak are not picked, and a resident's numbers are never adjusted.
- They wear a full set of gear, have talents for their role and their own deck — and they act on their own: they think about their move, heal and protect their allies.
- In a live party a resident only takes a seat that was empty on entry. They never play for a live player, even one who has stepped away. More in Party.
Opponents
- 1v1 arena. If there are few players' heroes in your level window, your opponent will be a resident near your level.
- Team arena and battleground. Free seats on both teams are taken by residents matched by level. A live party first spends 45 seconds looking for a live enemy party.
- In PvP residents think too: they pick targets across the whole team, heal and protect their own.
- Arena newcomers face residents in ordinary PvE gear — see Arena for newcomers.

Duels with residents
You can challenge a resident to a duel too: they accept within 5–10 seconds. Such a fight is training: it doesn't count towards your record, history or rating, and has no rewards or stakes. It is a handy way to try a deck before a real duel — see Duels.
What residents never receive
- places and rewards of the arena season — those go to players' heroes only;
- Honor Circle points — fights with them don't count there.
