Friends, chat and requests
How to add a friend, which chat channels exist, how long a message can be, how spam protection works and how to block requests from a player for 15 minutes.
Friends, chat and requests are how you reach other players: invite them to a party, trade, challenge them to a duel.
Friends
- The friends window opens with the O key. Add a player by name: a request is sent, and the friend appears in your list once they accept it.
- Next to each friend you can see whether they are online. "Online" means they were active in the game during the last 5 minutes.
- From the list you can inspect a friend, invite them to your party or send a private message.
- There is no limit on the number of friends.
- There is an ignore list: chat messages from players on it are hidden from you. You add players from the name menu; the list is stored on this device.
Chat
Chat opens with the Enter key. Channels:
- World — general talk;
- Trade — buying and selling;
- Guild and Party — members only;
- private messages.
A message can be up to 300 characters. Clicking a name opens a menu: private message, party invite, trade, duel, friend request. Chat history is kept: scroll the feed up and older messages load.
Spam protection
Normal conversation never hits it, but a flood does:
- in one channel, no more than 3 messages in 5 seconds and 20 a minute;
- across all channels, no more than 45 a minute;
- the same text in the same channel, no more than once every 8 seconds.
Chat rules are on the Rules page.
Requests
Party invitations, trade offers, duel challenges, friend requests and guild invitations arrive as a card with Accept and Decline buttons. The card stays for at least a minute.
If you tick "don't accept from this player" while declining, that player can't send you requests of that kind for 15 minutes — other kinds of requests from them still arrive.
Do Not Disturb
In Settings, on the Gameplay tab, there is Do Not Disturb: it hides incoming private messages and trade requests. With it you can also turn on Auto-decline trades. The ignore list always works, whatever this setting. More in Settings.
