The Merchant: what to buy and what you get for selling
The Merchant’s shop: supplies at a ×2.5 markup, up to 200 per purchase, bags, repairs and the prices the Merchant pays for your items and materials.
The Merchant opens with the "Shop" button in the game menu. He does three things: sells supplies and bags, buys what you don't need and repairs your gear.
What he sells
- Supplies — 11 basic goods: Bandage and Heavy Bandage, Minor Healing Potion and Healing Potion, Grilled Fish, Flour, Spices, Empty Vial, Curing Salt, Salt Crystal and Blank Vellum. Anything stronger comes only from crafting or loot.
- Bags with 8, 10 and 12 slots — more in Bags.
The buying price is 2.5 times what the Merchant himself pays for the same thing, so making it yourself is always cheaper. You can buy up to 200 at once, and purchases go into your Pouch. All prices are in the Merchant goods reference.
What he pays
You can sell right from your bag (item menu → "Sell") or in the shop: mark items and stacks and the total appears at the bottom. Selling can't be undone.
| Rarity | Price of an item with required level N | Level-60 item |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 4 + 3·N copper | 1s 84c |
| Uncommon | common × 2.2 | 4s 5c |
| Rare | 100 + 6.5·N copper | 4s 90c |
| Epic | 5000 + 250·N copper | 2g |
| Legendary | epic × 2.5 | 5g |
- Materials, consumables and recipe scrolls are bought per piece at the item's price (Linen Cloth — 4 copper each).
- A bag is bought back for its shop price divided by 2.5.
- The "Sell Junk" button in your bag sells all grey junk at once and leaves green and better items alone.
He won't take quest items, heirloom items (those can only be deleted), personal legendary relics (Crown of the Conqueror, Cloak of a Thousand Battles, Hammer of the First Forge, Medallion of Zarhold) or personal stacks such as the Shard of the First Forge. All other gear sells, including personal Battle Pass rewards, unique (turquoise) items and items granted by the administration. If the Merchant won't take an item, its "Sell" button is greyed out with the reason underneath.
Repairs
"Repair all" in the shop restores the durability of the gear you're wearing. The price is per missing point of durability: item’s level × 6 + 20 copper. The item’s level is the one it was made for (“requires level N” in the tooltip), not the “Item Level” on the scale up to 280. A completely broken level-60 item (30 points) costs 1g 14s. More in Durability and repairs.
Tip
Blue and better items usually sell better at the Auction House. You can't list a lot below the Merchant's price anyway, so you can't sell at a loss there.
