Mail: letters, attachments, returns

How to send a letter, money and items: 1 silver per letter with attachments, up to 12 attachments, 30 days of storage and unclaimed mail returned.

Mail delivers letters, money and items to any hero — even one who isn't online right now. Auction House proceeds and purchases arrive here too (Auction House).

How to send

  1. Open Mail → "Compose".
  2. "To:" — the hero's name; capitalisation doesn't matter.
  3. A subject (1–120 characters) and text (up to 2,000).
  4. Attachments: money (up to 1 million gold), items from your bag and stacks from your Pouch (the Pouch tab — you choose how many pieces). Up to 12 attachments in total.

Postage and attached money are taken right away. You can send at most 10 letters a minute.

Who can get what

  • Not to yourself, but to your other heroes — yes.
  • Heirloom, personal, account-bound and unique items, bags and items granted by the administration can't go to another player. You can send them to your own heroes.
  • Items with "self only" enchantments, quest items and personal stacks (Shard of the First Forge) can't be sent to anyone.
  • You can write to a world inhabitant too, but they never collect mail — after 30 days the money and items in it come back to you.

How long a letter is kept

  • A letter is kept for 30 days. Collect money and items with "Claim"; if your bag is full, only part is collected — make room.
  • Money and items from a letter the recipient didn't collect within 30 days go back to the sender: you get a "Letter returned" message from Zarhold Post. That letter never expires.
  • Auction House letters aren't returned when they expire — collect proceeds and purchases in time.
  • A letter can be deleted only once it holds no money or items.

The "Outbox" tab shows whether the recipient has collected your letter.

Mail or Trade?

Mail is handy when the other player is offline or when you're sending to your own hero. If you're both online and swapping items, Trade is safer: both sides see the offer and confirm it.
