Duel stakes: gold and items on the line
How to stake gold and items on a duel: up to 100 gold from each side and up to 3 items, a 5% fee, daily limits and which items can never be staked.
When you challenge a hero to a duel, you can put gold, items or both on the line. The winner takes everything.
How a stake works
- The challenger sets the gold — the same amount from each side — and/or adds up to 3 of their items.
- The opponent sees the stake on the challenge card. If items are at stake, they add their own: the vendor value of their items must be at least 80% of the challenger's.
- On "Accept" the gold is taken from both sides and the items go into escrow: during the fight they can't be sold or equipped.
- The winner receives everything by mail, with a 5% fee taken from the gold.
- A draw or a fight that didn't happen returns each stake. Surrender and disconnect count as a loss.
Limits
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Gold from each side | up to 100 gold |
| Items from each side | up to 3 |
| Stakes with the same opponent | up to 3 a day |
| Gold across all stakes of one account | up to 300 gold a day |
| Account age | over 3 days, for both |
Both fighters must have the stake before the fight: wallets are checked on the challenge and again on "Accept".
Items you can't stake
Only items that can be given to another player at all can be staked. Not allowed: heirloom items, personal items, account items, unique items and quest items. Legendary items — never, even if they are tradeable.
Example
A stake of 50 gold from each side makes a pot of 100. The 5% fee is 5 gold, so the winner gets 95 — plus any items that were at stake.
Who you can't stake against
There are no stakes with world residents: fighting them is training. How to challenge and how a duel goes is covered in Duels. Winnings arrive by mail — see Mail.
