Arena seasons: rating reset and rewards
An arena season lasts about 60 days: then come rewards from the 1v1 table and every rating resets to 500. Plus how rating decays if you stop playing.
PvP in Zarhold runs in seasons. A season is designed to last 60 days; the Season tab in the arena shows how much time is left. At the end the best players get rewards and everyone's rating is reset — the race starts over.
What happens at the end of a season
- Final standings are saved to an archive, visible on the Season tab.
- Rewards go to the top of the 1v1 table — separately for the 1–59 tier and the 60 tier. Places are counted among players' heroes: world residents get no season places or rewards.
- Rating in all modes — every arena size and the battleground — returns to 500.
- Arena Points, Honor and duelist marks stay with you.
- The duel rating is also settled — see Honor Circle.
Season rewards
The reward depends on your place in the 1v1 table of your tier. First place gets the Season Pathfinder title, the turquoise Champion's Brand — a unique account item — a portrait frame and 5,000 Arena Points. Below that come the 2–3, 4–10 and 11–30 brackets with brands, frames, a card back and Arena Points, and everyone below 30th place gets 100 Arena Points. The full table is in the Season rewards reference.
Rewards are handed out once the season is closed, and you collect them on the same Season tab.
Rating decay when you don't play
So that a high rating doesn't stay frozen for someone who stopped playing:
- if your 1v1 rating is above 500 and you haven't played a single 1v1 fight for 7 days, it slides down by 5% of the distance to 500 on your next arena visit;
- this happens at most once every 7 days;
- it never takes your rating below 500.
Example: a rating of 1,500 becomes 1,450 after an idle week — 5% of the 1,000 gap. One 1v1 fight restarts the clock.
FAQ
Is team arena and battleground rating reset too?
Yes, at the end of a season every mode starts from 500 again. The first 10 fights of the new season in each mode are calibration again — see Rating and calibration.
Will I lose the PvP gear I bought?
No. A season only touches rating: gear, currency and titles stay.
