Where does an item drop in Zarhold? The Item Atlas lists every boss loot table with drop chances, search and filters — and helps you plan your farming.

“Where does it drop?” is the question every farming session in an MMORPG starts with. You can spend weeks running the same dungeon on a hunch — or you can open an item database, find the item you want, see which boss drops it and how often, and go straight for it. In Zarhold that’s what the Item Atlas is for: it lives both in the game and on the website, and it’s built from the same tables the game uses to hand out loot.

Let’s look at what the atlas shows, how to search it, how to read a drop chance, how boss loot works and how to plan your farming with the atlas.

What the Item Atlas is

The Item Atlas is a reference for all the loot in the game. It holds almost three and a half thousand items: the loot of 166 bosses across 32 locations — 23 dungeons, 6 raids and 3 world bosses — the items of 26 open-world lands, quest rewards, crafted gear, legendary, heirloom and turquoise items, the Tier 1 sets and all the gear in the PvP shop.

There are three ways to open it:

  • on the website — the Item Atlas section of the knowledge base: every item has its own card and a link you can send to a friend;
  • in the game — the Atlas button on the bottom bar, or the A key on a computer;
  • from your loot — the Loot window of a dungeon or raid shows everything a boss drops, with an approximate chance, and leads into the atlas; regalia and Tier 1 set pieces have an Item Atlas button right in their tooltip.

The atlas in the game and on the site is the same atlas: the data comes from one source, so the numbers match.

Nine tabs: where to look for what

  • Dungeons & raids — every boss drop from dungeons, raids and world bosses, with an approximate chance, item level and stats. You can browse it by location or as one list of all items.
  • Forge Regalia · Tier 1 — the ten class sets, their looks, bonuses by talent tree and regalia slots with chances. The sets themselves are covered in Tier sets in an MMORPG.
  • World — what open-world enemies drop in every land: chances by quality and the Zone Bosses.
  • Quests & rewards — gear from land quests and from the Battle Pass.
  • Crafting — gear made by professions: the skill, the recipe and where the recipe comes from.
  • Legendary — legendary relics and raid legendaries with their special properties.
  • Heirlooms — items that grow with your hero and add bonus experience.
  • Turquoise — account-unique items: arena brands and rewards for deeds.
  • PvP — gear for Arena Points and battleground Honor, tiers by level and prices.

Search and filters

The search box understands an item’s name, a location, a boss, a quest, a slot and a class — and you can combine words. Next to it are the filters:

  • Class — by default shows items “for the class”: its armor and its weapons. The “everything they can wear” checkbox adds, say, mail for a plate wearer.
  • Slot, armor and weapon — head, ring, off-hand; cloth or plate; a staff or a shield.
  • Quality — buttons from common to turquoise; you can pick several.
  • Item level — a from–to range, to cut out everything weaker than what you wear.
  • Location type — dungeons, raids or world bosses; on the PvP tab, the shop tier.
  • Heroic — shows heroic-mode item level and stats.
  • Order — by item level, by required level, by name, and on the dungeons tab also by chance.

The Reset button puts everything back. An item card shows the slot, the item level (and the heroic one if it differs), the required level, where to get the item and how likely it is, which classes it suits and which can wear it even though it isn’t their main armor. There’s also a “Copy a link to this item” button.

What drops where: the dungeon or raid page

Switch to browsing by location and every dungeon, raid and world boss opens its own “what drops here” page. It shows:

  • the bosses in order, with the final boss marked, and how many items each drops per kill: two or three per party from a dungeon boss, three to five from a raid or world boss;
  • every boss’s loot with an approximate chance and item level;
  • a Normal · Heroic switch for raids and world bosses: in heroic you see item level 232 and the Tier 1 regalia;
  • “Also from this boss” — recipe scrolls and rare materials with their chance;
  • the location’s regular enemies: each drops up to three items, every one with an 18% chance, 8% of what drops is blue and the rest green; the item level equals the enemy’s level.

That makes it easy to decide where to go: one page shows everything a location can give you and your whole party.

Drop chance: how to read it

The chance in the atlas is approximate. The game has no “item chance” formula: on a kill, a boss pulls several items from its pool by rarity weights, with special rules for raids and high-level dungeons. So the atlas counts it honestly — it “kills” every boss 1,000 times with the same loot code used in combat and checks how often each item dropped. That gives an accuracy of about ±1.5%. Legendaries roll separately — 0.8% per kill, and that figure is exact.

How to use a drop chance:

  • The chance is per boss kill, for the whole party. If two people need the item, it still gets rolled.
  • Chances add up over attempts: an item with a 10% chance drops at least once in 10 kills with a probability of about 65%, and in 22 kills about 90%. An item with a 20% chance gets close to 90% in 10 kills.
  • There are no guarantees: bad luck happens, and that’s normal. It matters more to pick a location where several items you want can drop.

The open world works differently, and the World tab shows it: items there aren’t named — the quality is rolled from the enemy type’s chance table, the slot is any of the 19, and the item level is the enemy’s level. A regular enemy drops a grey item 18% of the time per fight, a green 2.5% and a blue 0.6%. Epics drop only from elites and Zone Bosses of level 20 and above, legendaries only from Zone Bosses of level 30 and above: 0.4% on each of two loot rolls.

How boss loot works

Loot quality grows with the locations. Bosses never drop grey items; from level 30 dungeon bosses drop only blue and epic items, and from level 55 at least one epic from every boss. Raids and world bosses drop only epics and better. A summary of rarities is in Item rarities.

Rolling in a party

Every item from a boss or from regular enemies is rolled for among the party. There are three choices: Need, Greed and Pass. You can only pick Need if the item fits your class — armor of your own weight or a weapon your class can use; cloaks, necklaces, rings and trinkets suit everyone. If anyone picks Need, the item is rolled only among them: a roll from 1 to 100, and on a tie whoever is earlier in the party order wins. You get 30 seconds to choose on a run with world residents and 45 seconds in a group of live players. A world resident only asks for an item that’s better than what they’re wearing, and never takes a legendary. Experience and gold aren’t split: everyone gets their full share. Details: Group loot rolls.

Personal items

Gear you win, green quality and above, becomes personal right away: you can wear it, sell it to a vendor or disenchant it, but you can’t pass it to another player or list it on the auction. The exception is loot from a roll in a group of live players: for another 2 hours you can hand it to any member of the same run who took part in the roll. Details: Personal items.

Repeat runs: when to farm

The repeat rules decide where farming pays off:

  • Dungeons. Boss items drop on every run, however many times you go. Only experience and gold go down: 100% on the first run, 50% on the second and 0% after that — within a 24-hour window from your first clear. Recipe scrolls and rare boss materials roll on the first two runs of their window.
  • Raids and world bosses. The loot once a day rule applies: your first run of the day to each location gives everything — items, materials, scrolls, experience and gold — and another run the same day is just helping friends. Normal and heroic share one window, and the day counts from the first boss killed.

The takeaway is simple: dungeon items are farmed in streaks, while raids are cleared once a day each. Details: Repeat clears.

How to plan your farming with the atlas

  1. Pick your class and slot in the filters and sort by item level — the best thing you can get for that slot will be at the top.
  2. Open the item card: where it drops, how likely it is and who it suits. You can copy the link and send it to your group.
  3. Compare the sources. A dungeon can be run back to back, a raid once a day. A 200 item from a dungeon is often quicker to get than waiting for a 226 from a raid.
  4. Open the location page and see what else drops there for you and your friends: a place with three items you need beats a place with one.
  5. Estimate the attempts. At a 10% chance, plan on about twenty kills; at 20%, about ten.
  6. Mind your party. If two people in the party wear the same armor, both will press Need — agree on it beforehand.

How to pick your targets at level 60 is covered in the level 60 gear guide, and how runs themselves work in Dungeons and raids.

Loot and Item Atlas FAQ

Where can I see which boss drops an item?

In the Item Atlas — on the website under Item Atlas, or in the game via the Atlas button. Find the item with search or filters and open its card: the “Where to get it” block lists the location, the boss and the approximate chance per kill.

How accurate are the atlas drop chances?

The chance is calculated by simulation: the atlas “kills” every boss 1,000 times with the same loot code the game uses, so it’s accurate to about ±1.5%. The legendary chance is exact: 0.8% per kill, on a separate roll.

Why did an item drop but go to someone else?

Every item is rolled for among the party. Need beats Greed, and between equals a roll from 1 to 100 decides. If the winner doesn’t need the item, in a group of live players they can pass it to you within 2 hours.

Does loot drop on repeat runs?

In dungeons — yes, boss items drop on every run; only experience and gold go down. In raids and at world bosses only your first run of the day gives loot; a repeat run is helping friends, with no loot.

Is the atlas available in the game itself?

Yes. The Atlas button is on the bottom bar, and on a computer the A key opens it. The game and the website share the same data.

The bottom line

The Item Atlas turns farming from a lottery into a plan: find the item, see where it drops and how often, check it against the repeat rules — and head where one evening can bring you the most of what you need. Open the Item Atlas on the website, pick a target and jump into the game — the boss you need is already waiting.
