Consumables in combat: bandages, potions, food

One consumable of each kind per fight: bandage, potion, bomb, boost. Bandages heal 15–50% of Health and work in PvP; potions and bombs only against creatures.

In one fight you can use one consumable of each kind: a bandage, a healing potion, a throwable (a bomb) and a boost. Consumables cost no Crystals and don't use up your turn.

Where they are in combat

Next to your hero's portrait there are six consumable slots: three on the left (bandages, potions, elixirs) and three on the right (trinkets, gadgets, bombs). The best of what's in your Pouch and allowed in this fight fills them automatically; hold a slot to assign an item yourself. Empty slots stay visible. On a computer the slots are pressed with Shift+1…Shift+6, left to right.

KindWhat it isWhere it works
BandageFirst Aideverywhere, PvP included
Healing potionAlchemyagainst creatures only

Boostelixirs, flasks, engineering boostersagainst creatures only

A bandage and a potion are different kinds, so you can use both in one fight. A second consumable of the same kind won't work and won't be spent.

Bandages

A bandage heals a share of your maximum Health — from 15% for the simplest to 50% for the best — and doesn't depend on Power. It's the only consumable for the arena and battlegrounds; in PvP its healing, like all healing, weakens from turn 10. Bandages are made with First Aid, and the merchant sells simple ones — see Merchant goods.

Potions and bombs

Potions come from Alchemy, bombs from Engineering; they only work against creatures. No consumable heals more than half of your maximum Health.

Active items

Some trinkets give a button with a cooldown. They aren't consumed, and the one-of-each-kind rule doesn't apply to them. In PvP only the Medallion of Zarhold and the arena season brands work.

Food and Well Fed

Food is eaten outside combat. It gives Well Fed — a bonus to Health, Power or both in fights against creatures:

  • it lasts 15 minutes or 3 fights, whichever ends first; the best dish lasts 20 minutes or 4 fights;
  • only one dish is active: a new one replaces the old;
  • food doesn't heal Health and doesn't work in PvP.

It's made with Cooking, and the merchant sells grilled fish.

FAQ

Can I drink potions in the arena?

No: in PvP bandages are the only consumable that works. In a live duel even those are off — consumables are banned there entirely.
