Creating a hero: race, class and name
How to create a hero in Zarhold: race and faction, class and role, name rules (2–24 characters). What you can’t change later and how many heroes you can have.
Creating a hero takes a minute: you pick a race, a class, a gender and a name. The key point — you can't change your race or class in the game later, so here's everything worth knowing before you press the button.
Race and faction
There are 11 races, each belonging to one of three factions: the Order of the Silver Dawn, the Storm Tribe or the Feral. You don't pick a faction separately — it comes with your race. Any race can be any class, and your faction doesn't lock you out of anything: you can party, join a guild and trade with heroes of any faction.
Your race gives you:
- a permanent bonus — for example, the Gartan get +10% Health, the Durgar +8% Health, and the Kogran, Nakar and Shaydar +6% Power each;
- two abilities: one for fights with creatures and one for the arena.
Every bonus is listed in All races, and advice on choosing is in Factions and races.
Class and role
There are 10 classes. Your class sets your deck, your resource (mana, rage, energy or focus), your armour type and your role in a group:
- tank — Barbarian, Lightbringer, Revenant, Druid;
- healer — Priest, Lightbringer, Stormbringer, Druid;
- damage — any class.
Until level 10 every Class Power attacks, so any class handles the first lands equally well. How to choose — How to choose a class; the numbers for each class — Classes in numbers.
Name rules
- 2 to 24 characters, starting with a letter;
- letters, digits, spaces, hyphens, apostrophes and underscores are allowed;
- names are unique — if yours is taken, the game will ask for another;
- swearing and insults won't get through; see the Rules.
