Your first hour: the tutorial, quests and first lands
Your first hour in Zarhold: the 26-step tutorial, Brightdale and the Crimson Wastes, your first quests and fight, starter gear and where to go next.
Your first hour is an introduction: the tutorial shows you the interface, and Brightdale teaches you combat and quests. By the end of it you'll have a couple of levels, your first items and a clear idea of where to go next.
The tutorial: 26 steps
When your hero first appears on the map, the tutorial begins. A highlight and an arrow point at the right button, and a narrator explains where to find combat and dungeons, the Quest Log, the arena, your character sheet and equipment, the Battle Pass, the Spellbook, talents, the World Map, professions, the Auction House and chat.
- You can skip it with the “Skip Tutorial” button.
- To replay it, open the “More” menu → “Tutorial”.
Brightdale and the Crimson Wastes
Every new hero starts in Brightdale, a land for levels 1–4. It has a neighbour in the same level range — the Crimson Wastes, with different enemies, a different boss and its own 12 quests, so there's plenty of experience at the start.
Every land has five spots on the map: regular enemies, a pack, a hunt, an elite and the land boss. How it all works — How the world works.
Your first quests
Every land has 12 quests: 4 to defeat enemies, 4 to collect trophies from them, one for the land boss and three peaceful ones (talk, find, deliver). Press J to open the Quest Log.
- At level 1 a quest gives almost a tenth of a level in experience, a little copper and 6 Battle Pass points.
- You get an item for every boss quest and for roughly a third of the others.
- Each quest can be done once. More in Quests.
Your first fight
- You have 6 cards in hand — swap out the opening cards you don't like.
- You get 1 crystal on your first turn and one more every turn, up to 10. Leftovers are lost, so spend them all.
- Your Class Power (the E key) costs 1 crystal and works once per turn.
Your hero starts in a green set for their armour type with a weapon, plus a gift: an heirloom ring that grows with your hero and adds +4% experience. Losing a fight doesn't cost you experience or money, but every item you're wearing loses 1 durability — repair your gear at the Shop. The combat rules are in How combat works.
What's next
- From level 2 you can enter the lands of the next range (4–7): a land lets you in 2 levels before its range starts.
- At level 10 talents and the first dungeon (levels 10–15) unlock.
- The arena, professions, the Auction House and guilds are open right away. The full list — What unlocks as you level.
