Seal of Steadfastness and Scroll of Transference: risk-free honing and moving it to a new item
Risk-free honing in the card MMORPG Zarhold: how the Seal of Steadfastness works at +10…+19, where to get its recipe and how to move honing to a new item.

From +10, honing in Zarhold, a card MMORPG in your browser, becomes risky: a failure overheats the item, and from +16 it leaves cracks. But the risk has two answers. The Seal of Steadfastness makes an attempt at +10…+19 a sure thing — 100%, no overheating, no cracks. And the Scroll of Transference means you don’t start over when you switch items: the honing moves to the new one. Here are both — what they give, what they are made of and what the catch is. Honing basics — Item honing in Zarhold: how to upgrade gear to +20.
What honing risks after +10
To understand what the Seal is worth, recall what a failed risky attempt does:
- +10 — the item overheats for 1 hour;
- +11…+15 — overheating for 5 hours;
- +16…+19 — overheating for 5 hours and a crack: the third crack takes one step away (never below +15);
- +20 — the scroll burns, overheating for 24 hours.
An overheated item gives nothing — no own stats, no honing, no milestones — and it cannot be honed, sold or traded. Cooling only starts when you press “Cool down” and use a Scroll of Restoration. The item itself never disappears and never loses its pluses.
The Seal of Steadfastness: honing without risk
The Seal goes into the attempt instead of Unstable Runes — and success becomes 100%: no overheating and no cracks.
- It works on steps +10…+19. The Seal does not work at +20 — only the Ascension ritual leads there.
- At +16…+19 the Seal also needs a Mythic Spark ×1.
- The step scroll and the gold fee are used as usual.
- One Seal — one attempt. The Seal is soulbound: it cannot be traded or sold.
- An attempt with a Seal counts toward the weekly limit of its step: 10 attempts per week at +10…+14, 5 at +15…+19.
The game shows its double warning only before a risky attempt — one without a Seal.
Where to get the Seal of Steadfastness recipe
The Seal is made by an enchanter (Enchanting, skill 300, a level 60 hero), but the recipe is not sold by the trainer. It comes only from loot: the recipe scroll drops with a 2% chance from mythic raid finales and world bosses on mythic. The recipe scroll is personal, and a duplicate breaks into 2 First Forge Shards.
What one Seal is made of:
- Constellation Tear ×1;
- Star Serpent Scale ×1;
- Unstable Rune ×10;
- Mythic Spark ×3;
- plus 3,000g when crafting.

When to use a Seal and when to take the risk
A Seal is expensive, so it makes sense to save it for the steps where failure hurts most:
- at +16…+19, where every failure means not only 5 hours of overheating but also a crack, and three cracks take a step away;
- before an important run: an overheated item gives nothing, and it would go into a raid or key without its power;
- when the weekly attempt limit is almost used up and every attempt counts.
At +10…+15 armor and jewelry have a higher chance than weapons, and a failure is only overheating, with no cracks. Here you can hone with risk too — just keep a stock of Scrolls of Restoration.
The Scroll of Transference: honing moves to a new item
Found a stronger item? You can move the honing onto it instead of honing from scratch — for example, from a 245 item to a stronger one.
- Only onto an item of the same slot: a ring onto a ring, a trinket onto a trinket, a helm onto a helm.
- Both items must be level 60 items; honing never moves from or onto heirloom and turquoise items. A level 60 hero does the transfer.
- The new item gets 2 steps less: +20 becomes +18, +15 becomes +13, +10 becomes +8.
- Once per week per hero.
- Cost: a Scroll of Transference + 2,000g; from +16 and higher — also a Star Serpent Scale ×1.
The Scroll of Transference is made by an enchanter — the recipe costs 3,000g at the enchanting trainer. It takes Mythic Spark ×1, Constellation Tear ×2 and Unstable Rune ×5. The Scroll of Transference is soulbound — it cannot be traded or sold.
Transfer conditions and catches
- Neither item may be overheated, and the new one may not be broken.
- The new item’s step must be lower than the one it will get after the transfer.
- The old item loses its honing completely.
- Cracks, the failure count and the line “Ascended to +20” do not move over.
- The new item becomes soulbound.
So a transfer pays off when the new item is clearly stronger than the old one: the honing bonus is counted from the item itself, and the same steps give more on a stronger item. Seal and transfer FAQ
Can I buy a Seal of Steadfastness?
No. The Seal is soulbound and not sold, and the trainer does not sell its recipe: the recipe scroll drops from mythic raid finales and mythic world bosses (2%). An enchanter makes the Seal.
Does the Seal work at +20?
No. The Seal works at +10…+19. Only the Ascension ritual leads to +20: a 10% chance for weapons and 15% for armor, one attempt per week.
What else does a Seal need at +16…+19?
A Mythic Spark ×1 — besides the step scroll and the gold fee.
How many steps are lost when moving honing?
Two: +20 becomes +18, +10 becomes +8. You can transfer once per week per hero.
Can I move honing from a ring to a trinket?
No. Only onto an item of the same slot: a ring onto a ring, a trinket onto a trinket.
Does “Ascended to +20” move over?
No. Cracks and the failure count don’t move either — and the old item loses its honing completely.
