How battlegrounds work in the card MMORPG Zarhold: 5v5 team PvP, the Brawl and Multi-Duel modes, Honor for every win and a rating ladder of their own.

The arena is a duel or a fight between small teams. A battleground is the “big PvP” many people love MMORPGs for: ten heroes, two teams, everyone with a role. In Zarhold, a card MMORPG in your browser, a battleground is 5v5 with its own rating ladder, its own currency and two modes that play very differently.

What a battleground is

A battleground is a 5v5 team PvP fight. Like everything in Zarhold, it is a turn-based duel of decks — just with more heroes on the board. A win earns 150 Honor, the currency you spend on gear in the PvP shop. Battlegrounds have their own rating, separate from the arena: you can be strong in duels and just starting in team fights — or the other way round.

Two modes

Brawl

A team fight on one shared board: ten heroes, five against five. You play your hero while allies and opponents fight alongside. The team that defeats the other wins. Roles and order decide it: who protects, who heals, who the whole team hits.

Multi-Duel

Five one-on-one duels at once: each fighter on your side is paired with an opponent. You play your own duel, and the other pairs are resolved automatically. The side that wins more duels wins; on a tie, the side with more total Health left. After the fight you see a table of all five pairs and the score. It’s a mode for duel lovers who want to play for a team.

How to join a battleground

Open the Arena, go to the Battle tab and find the Team Battleground block: pick a mode and press “Fight Manually”.

  • Solo — the game first looks for live players for your team and the opponents, and empty seats are taken by world residents. No need to wait for a full team.
  • As a party — the leader queues the whole party, and every live player controls their own hero.

Battlegrounds are open from level 1. Tables are split into brackets: 1–59 and 60, and below 60 you are matched with heroes no more than six levels apart. So a newcomer won’t face a level 60 hero.

Honor and rating

  • A win — 150 Honor, a loss — 0.
  • You can earn up to 10,000 Honor a week, or up to 15,000 with the catch-up bonus. The week starts on Monday at 03:00 Moscow time.
  • The battleground rating is shared by both modes and is calculated against the average rating of the opposing team: beating strong teams pays more.
  • With the battle pass premium there is auto-battle on battlegrounds — up to three a day with the same rewards. Manual fights are unlimited.

Honor vs Arena Points

Honor comes from battlegrounds, Arena Points from the arena. The PvP shop sells the same items for both, only prices in Honor are 5 times higher — and a win also pays more Honor. So wherever you like to fight, there is a road to PvP gear. What to wear: PvP gear.

How to win battlegrounds

  1. Agree on a target. In the Brawl, the whole team’s damage on one opponent beats five even duels.
  2. Protect your healer. A team whose healer stands to the end almost always outlasts the other.
  3. Save your control removal for a key turn. Stuns decide a lot in PvP — racial abilities that cleanse yourself are especially valuable here. And a Morven (undead) can’t be made to skip a turn at all: instead they just have 1 crystal for the same turns — keep that in mind when picking a stun target. More in Races and factions.
  4. Wear PvP gear. Resilience reduces damage from players — exactly what matters most in the arena and on battlegrounds.
  5. Learn from duels. Multi-Duel is made of duels, so one-on-one experience applies directly: Duels in an MMORPG.

Battleground FAQ

Can I join battlegrounds before level 60?

Yes, from level 1: below 60 you play in your bracket with heroes of a similar level.

Do I need my own team?

No. You can queue solo — empty seats are filled by world residents, and live players are matched automatically. A party is more fun, but optional.

How are battlegrounds different from the arena?

The arena goes from 1v1 to 5v5 with its own rating and Arena Points. Battlegrounds are always 5v5, with two special modes, their own rating and Honor. More about the arena: PvP in a card game.

How much Honor can I earn a week?

Up to 10,000, or up to 15,000 with the catch-up bonus. The week starts on Monday at 03:00 Moscow time.

The bottom line

Battlegrounds in Zarhold are 5v5 team PvP right in your browser: the Brawl on a shared board and Multi-Duel of five pairs, 150 Honor per win and a rating of their own. You can play from level 1, solo or as a party. All the rules are in the knowledge base: Battleground and Arena Points and Honor. Open the game and gather your five.
